Michael Jeffrey CEO and Founder
Michael Jeffrey has more than 20 years of experience in the computer industry, specifically
managing start-up companies including Sea-Change Ltd. and HCI Ltd. He received his degree in
Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of York, England in 1981. From 1983 to 1988, Michael
was the technical director of Sea-Change Ltd., a start-up in the UK where he developed a 4GL
language and application generator named SeaChange, and was instrumental in building the company
up to 60 staff. In 1988 he left to form his own company, HCI Ltd. Over the following 8 years
he developed HCI Ltd. into a small and highly profitable organisation specialising in large scale
distributed Internet applications, including Internet Auctioneering and Internet Games.
Michael remains a non-executive director of HCI Ltd. as well as Auctioneering Systems Consultants
Ltd., a company that specialises in systems for Internet Auctioneering. In 1996, Michael formed
Vita Nuova together with Dr. Charles Forsyth and John Bates to exploit the newly announced Inferno
Operating System from Bell Labs.
